Project Overview

Based on the aims of the project, this project involves a feasibility study into production of hydrogen using offshore wind and the entire project can be broadly divided into six main sub-sections as shown in Table 1 below. Literature review on hydrogen economy was first conducted to allow the team to comprehensively understand the current landscape of the hydrogen industry. This was then followed by designing a hypothetical wind farm at a location chose by the team to produce electricity for the production of hydrogen. Based on the hypothetical wind farm, an appropriately sized hydrogen production system was then developed by the team. Subsequently, an offshore platform capable of supporting the hydrogen production, storage and transportation systems were conceived. Risk and economic analyses were also conducted to establish the viability of the offshore hydrogen production concept.
