The Devices

There are many different devices for wave energy, and can be classified depending on numerous characteristics, such as:
  • the installation site,
  • the principle of operation,
  • the type of energy capture system,
  • the position of the capture system relative to the wave direction.

The most popular ones can be summarised in pelamis, aquabuoy, wavedragon and oscillating water columns. We have focused our project in just two architectural types consisting of attenuator device (Pelamis) and point absorber (Aquabuoy). This will make possible a final comparison for both device’s results.
