Objectives

The wave energy industry is a relatively new sector and so the technologies are yet quite immature. There are many different devices trying to become feasible in a hostile environment which is the sea. This is why we have focused the objectives of this project as follows:
  • Analyse the wave resource and energy performance in different locations of Europe,
  • Estimate the costs of the main two wave energy devices,
  • Detect the key challenges to accomplish cost reduction opportunities,
  • Study the relevance of the site location and wave resource and the technical performance of the devices with the levelised cost of energy.
