Validation

To validate the profiles were accurate enough to use for simulation in HOMER we used a software called HEM. The fabric conditions, system determinants and floor areas were the main factors on ensuring the HEM dwellings mirrored the house types we had created.
Having applied the correct details for each house type, the heating demand outputs were found for one of each house type and then multiplied up depending on the number of said house type. The table below shows the HEM heating demands acquired against our original heating demand profile for each house type and the percentage difference for each. As can be seen, the percentage differences are generally very close and the validation gave us the green light and confidence to go ahead with the demand profile we built.
