Scenarios

The different scenarios analysed in this project were done in order to see how the energy storage technology effects different expected and unexpected situations over a year in the factory. 

Increase in demand

An unexpected failure in the process of the penicillin could increase the demand of the factory. Also, the factory could increase the demand in the future due to the reduction of the efficiency of the process or an extension in production. 

On-site generation failure 

The on-site generation can have a fault in a specific moment causing them to switch off. In addition, we included in this scenario a reduction of the wind generation output due to a year of low wind. 

Maintenance periods 

The on-site generation has to be turned off due to maintenance and cleaning works. These periods can be planned, trying to do it them at the most suitable moment. This means in a low demand period of the factory or in a low speed period of the wind for the wind turbines. 

Biomass plant = 2 weeks of maintenance 

Biogas plant = 1 week of maintenance 

Wind turbine = 1 week of maintenance

A normal year in the factory takes into account these maintenance periods considering that is necessary for the proper running of the factory.
