Weather Data

The weather data used in the computational matching tool came from the merit database for Glasgow 1972. The winter and summer days were chosen to be June 25th and December 23rd. These were chosen from a verification process which involved using more recent Scottish weather data, from a study completed by Edinburgh University from 2006 to present [1], and from the original demand profile weather data from the Milton Keynes project [2].

Edinburgh Data

The data from the University of Edinburgh is recorded every minute as atmospheric pressure, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, surface temperature, relative humidity and solar flux. For the purposes of obtaining data suitable for merit, the values for wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity and solar flux were averaged for both a typical winter and summer day. This is shown in the table below:

Milton Keynes Data

Some weather data was available with the Milton Keynes house profiles, this was averaged for our winter and summer days to ensure that there was no real discrepancy between the weather at the time of the results being collected that could have influenced the profiles to be differently shaped, particularly with thermal demand.
