The scenarios were assumed to be based on a rural community of 30 houses within Scotland:
- The demand profiles were generated for the present scenario using the present consumption of a Scottish house, and scaled to 30 homes.
- The weather data used in supply profiling was based on average days of weather data from a Scottish study.
- A rural community was assumed as they would be most likely to benefit from partial independence from the grid, have nearby land available suitable for a wind turbine and will be most likely to benefit from the current Scottish government targets to have 50MW of installed capacity of renewables to be a community owner by 2020.
Although this was the scope of our project, the process could be repeated with weather and consumption data for any situation.
