Conclusions
Our project addresses one simple concern; with the push to low carbon buildings, without resizing supply, there will be a mismatch.
We conclude that:
• The increase in energy efficiency of buildings will lead to a reduction of demand.
• The implementation of small scale renewables will lead to a loss of the match if there is no resizing.
• This will entail economic implications in the future if feed in tariffs are no longer available.
Based on our understanding of the situation we would:
• Invest in renewables now whilst there are FITs – then get out!
• Recommend all possible energy efficiency improvements to homes before investing in a community renewable scheme.
