The case study consists of two main district heating scenarios for the town of Kirkwall. The sub menus above can be used to navigate around the key technical aspects of both scenarios.

The first scenario includes two public buildings. These are the Council Headquarters and Papdale Primary School. The primary school is split into two smaller heating loads. The first scenario is seen in the image below:

The second scenario includes the two initial buildings, but with the addition of 14 houses on White Street and a future building close to the Primary School. The purpose of this scenario was to investigate the possibility of expanding the scheme to serve further heating demands. This is illustrated in the image below.
