Demand side Reduction

Before thinking about designing CHP - its imperative that good practice "demand reduction techniques are employed.

Heat Demand Reduction

The first way is to reduce the heating bills of the building. We created an ESP-r model to simulate the impact of adding different measures.

We found that adding insulation removed 12% of the total energy Consumption, double glazing and draught proofing a further 30% and finally smart temperature control brought the final heating bill from - 69% of the total energy consumption of the building to only 21%.

Electrical Demand Reduction

In a similar by using energy efficiency lightbulbs and applianes and with good practice the electrical bills can be reduced by 20-25%, a total reduction of 5% of the total bills.
