Further developments of project should investigate integrated control systems for the village to make even better use of fluctuating electricity pricing. This should include demand side management of EV charging and thermal storage for space heating and hot water. Further in the future, the possibility of using EV batteries as grid storage may become a possibility.
This project has shown that demand reduction magnifies the benefits of renewables; it is therefore suggested that national policy incentivises demand reduction. Additionally, it has shown there is scope to implement renewable generation technologies with minimal impact by making use of existing developments.
