POWER CONDITIONING

Contents:

1. Introduction
2. Why we need power conditioning

3. Our choice of Inverter

4. Efficiencies

5. Conclusion

4. INVERTER EFFICIENCIES

The rating of the selected inverter must be carefully chosen, as inverter efficiency drops off exponentially for power levels lower than the inverter rating. As we have an extremely inefficient system as it is (from sunlight striking the PV to the final usable electrical output), a correct inverter choice is crucial as we do not want to needlessly waste electricity. We can loose almost all our available power from an incorrectly sized inverter.
