Team Functionality

The Team consisted of all engineers from different backgrounds which helped to contribute to the various aspects of this project.

Ross Bryson:

Over the course of this project Ross took a particular interest in the hydrodynamic aspects of turbine blade design and helped to implement programming improvements to the BEM code.

Marc Cressey:

After a few tutorials Marc developed a concept for the project website which everyone could expand upon. As Fortran 77 was the core focus of the project, Marc used a Fortran textbook from the library to learn the lingo and added upon the existing open source code. Marc also conducted a detailed meta-study of the various protection schemes for tidal current turbines and their environmental impact.

Nicolas Morgan:

Nick was largely involved in obtaining the results of the systematic study, which analysed the impact of various design and contextual parameters on a tidal current turbines power output.

Ollie Kelleher:

Ollie was largely involved in the design and development of the group’s website. He also assisted in the collection of the results for the systematic study.

Andrew Kay:

Andrew was involved in the setting up of the systematic study and the collection and discussion of the results. He also had a large involvement in the development of the tidal model and collection of financial and annual energy recovery results.

As a group, we met every day to conduct the various aspects of this project in a team environment; this also involved recording minutes of important discussions in order to review progress. We also arranged several meetings with industrial and academic contacts. Each member of the group had a large involvement with the content of the website. As previously illustrated, the various aspects of the work involved for this project were broken up and distributed evenly within the group. This helped to improve overall productivity and functionality within the designated timeframe of the project.
