Case Study # 1

Heat Recovery System

Methodology

A previous literature review was carried out in order to investigate the best available technologies for Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery Systems and Domestic/ Industrial Heating Systems.

Then, the conditions of the exhaust gas on-site were measured.

With the available experimental data, a brief assessment of energy needs of the farm was carried out. This information supported the design and selection of the heat exchanger and heating system that is recommended in this case study.

During the practical phase, many drawbacks had to be overcome in order to continue with the study of the recovery system, which lead to a new approach to the project.

As long as the heat exchanger that it would be installed and tested could not be delivered on time, the estimated energy recovery and any other calculations and results presented are based on assumptions and the technical data provided by the manufacturers of the equipments .
