The Wire Resilience Impact Scenario Calculator (WRISC) is a decision support tool, developed in Excel that was created for the project to assess the After Diversity Maximum Demand (ADMD) results. All the results that are shown on the ADMD Results page were derived from this tool. The tool is one of the main deliverables of the project and additionally the tool has been made available for download. The Tool can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.
The tool allows users to assess the impact on ADMD values for their selected future scenario. The Tool is very flexible due to the number of variations that can be made within each future scenario. Each future scenario has the possibility of different combinations of housing profiles with technologies including gas, heat pumps and total electrification. There is also the potential to add in electric vehicles into the future scenarios with different charging options.
Each scenario is also compared with previous established scenarios so it makes it very easy for the user to evaluate the differences. The Tool also advises the user of what the industry recommendations are for ADMD values (Networks, S. P. 2013). This is the main function of the tool as it makes an indication of whether the wires need to be replaced or not.
Currently the data in the tool is only for a winter week, however as mentioned, the Tool is very flexible so if the user wanted, they could add in their own data if they wished. Information on the house load profiles and the electric vehicle profiles can be found on the website.
Figure 1 below shows a screenshot of the Estate Definition of the Tool. This is the part of the tool where the user selects what future scenario they want to investigate. Full instructions on how to use the Tool can be found on the Help tab in the WRISC Tool.
