Welcome to our Emission Impossible web siteTransport is an enormously controversial subject that effects most of our day to day lives. Car travel in particular is on the increase, increasing by 17% over the past ten years. It affects not only our quality of life but also the environment, the economy and the safety of road users. "We need to tackle congestion, reduce pollution as well as improve road safety. The challenge is how to do this in a way that is sustainable over the long term."Rt Hon Alistair Darling MP, Secretary of State for Transport (Nov. 2003) Our AimAs a group we aim to predict and compare the effects Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS), namely ISA and toll charging may have within the city of Glasgow in terms of: - Average vehicle travelling speed
- Petrol consumption
- Number of road casualties
- Level of pollution
