M. Importing Degree-Day Data

Exercise purpose:

To become familiar with the import of degree day in EnTrak's Administration mode.

 

 

1. Download file.

To download a sample file, click here DegreeDayData, and open it with a spreadsheet program (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel)

 

Delete the sample data and input your own data making sure that all the fields are filled up, the dates are in the format (yyyy-mm-dd), the 'dd_code' is 'WS' and 'type_dd' is 'HEM'. Note that the data code WS is listed as ‘West Scotland’ in the Entrak interface.

Other regions codes are listed as below. The Degree-days data are sourced from http://vesma.com/ddd/history.htm where the latest degree-days data are available.

'Save As' the file in text format (tab delimited).

NOTE: Make sure that you have 'write' permission in the directory you wish to save the file. In the case of network disk drives, you may need to use 'A' drive to save the file.

2. Import text file in Administration mode.

Choose 'Import' from the 'Tools' menu.

 

Choose 'deg_days' & 'replace' from the 'import data' box.

 

 Choose from 'Browse File' the 'DegreeDayData.txt' created previously and click 'Import into  Table'.  You can confirm the completion of the importing operation by viewing the imported data. To view the entity data, open the ‘Edit Degree day data’ by selecting ‘Degree Days’ menu under the ‘Edit’ menu, and click the ‘Go & Take’ button. You can find the data records imported in the query list.

Ability to manage degree-day data importing from a file.
