This is a Group Project website developed for the degree of MSc Energy Systems and the Environment at the University of Strathclyde.

Construction Villages have traditionally not received any attention regarding energy efficiency and environmental comfort. There are obvious inefficiencies regarding energy usage, connectivity problems, set-up difficulties and an uncomfortable working environment.

This project is concerned with improving the existing energy demand and supply as well as enhancing the environmental quality of construction site accommodation. This project seeks to analyse the impact of improving energy efficiency through retrofitting energy efficient equipments, investigation of the insulation characteristics and introducing controllability to manage the demand for energy. Besides, evaluation of renewable energy technologies and efficient supply systems were conducted in order to allow an assessment of the feasibility of self-sufficient supply in a construction villages.

This project was successfully completed with the support from Laing O'Rourke as the industrial partner.

It is the hope of the Energy Systems and Environment project team that the information contained in this website will contribute to the relevant field.  Please feel free to use any of the findings presented to further your own study, making due acknowledgement where appropriate.
