Exploring the in-built training exemplars

Aim

To browse through a selection of pre-constructed models held within the Project Manager.

Learning
Outcome

An elementary understanding of the types of information that must be brought together to create a model and an introduction to the facilities available to support model manipulations.

Task

Instructions

1. Explore the pre-constructed models.

From the Project manager top menu, choose the open and then open an exemplar option. These examples range from simple one zone models to more complex models comprising multi-zone configurations with air flow networks, plant networks and control systems.

2. Browse an exemplar model.

Use the Project Manager to browse a few exemplars. Begin with a simple model and then progress to more complex ones noting the additional information required (e.g. geometry and construction details). The Model Definition menu and the upper right corner of the graphic feedback includes ckickable boxes which indicate the domains included in the model. Click on the model context option of the Model definition menu to find out information about the site.

Notice the controls that accompany the wire-line display, the reports that may be directed to the text feedback area and the details given as feedback within the navigation menu.

3. Think about it!

Additional information is available in an online course which covers the concepts of energy modelling and simulation through case studies. This will give you a further insight into ESP-r's capabilities.

Assignment
3

Send an email with a list of the exemplars that you browsed. For one of the exemplars, provide a brief summary of the model (e.g. how many zones did it have, where were the windows, did it include control etc).
