On our agenda:
The initial work of action was based on group discussion and brainstorming sessions. At that time we were presented an overview of the problem and we were pointed out that at that stage we were jumping into conclusions, which was a common mistake made by all the groups during the first week. We were recommended do some literature review rather than try to solve the problem in such an early stage. We were also given some tips on how to project ourselves in the crits.

On our agenda:
Once again, we were told that we are going to fast in the project and jumping into conclusions maybe without doing the appropriate research. It was suggested that the topic should be broken down and analysed from top to bottom. A definition of the transmission of renewable energy from renewable sources should be made. At that point, there was a need to identify a number of issues, its purposes and why they were important to us. Also options such as grid, regional, local, autonomous level of transmissions should be identified and determined. It was recommended to develop a criteria and find some arguments in order to support why we were choosing certain options and which ones. Finally, terms and concepts needed to be defined as well as a terminology and its breakdown. We needed to show mechanisms in our next crit rather than results.

On our agenda:
We were recommended to narrow our scopes for the forthcoming weeks and start to work on our deliverables.

On our agenda:
The time scale of data entry was questioned, and it was decided that half hourly was the optimum, although it was suggested that spreadsheet should accommodate varying demand data (i.e. hourly, daily...). The implementation of renewable sources within the spreadsheet was clarified. All groups were suggested to generate some results by the following presentation.

On our agenda:
At this time we were recommended to focus on what our role would be in the final presentation. From now onwards, each of us has a task to build upon. Since this week, the project was divided into four major areas which were:

On our agenda:
During this week we were told about the lack of innovation on the project and how this could be overcome. There was also definite task allocation to all the different members of the group and from this week presentation we started practising the base of our scripts towards our final crit. Azza obtained some results from the ESP-r simulation and this was added to REIS and linked. Work on the web page is progressing smoothly.

On our agenda:
During this week we started polishing and closing up the different sections in the project. We also used REIS to analyse the Livingston Tower. Using the rules we established we abtained some data and plugged it into the package. We made a few disasterous assumptions. Our demand data was too high and as a result the contribution of the renewable sources was deemed to small and we were hammered in the weekly crit. The package works because it picked up on this fault however it seems as though the plot is being missed.

On our agenda:
The project comprises 4 parts, the introduction, the issue of demand data, the supply resource assessment, and the decision support package. The only outstanding issue is the demand data aspect. It was suggested that we highlight the differing levels of data resolution so as to stress the importance of high frequency data. It was felt that we should stress demand reduction measures a bit stronger.

On our agenda:
We felt that we needed help with our presentation technique so we enlisted the help of Dr. Lorraine Stephani to help us with our technique. There was a few aspects of our presentation that needed work, some were too long with too much information, some mumbled and needed to speak louder, some swayed as though they were drunk on fine wine, quite comical. We felt much more reassured after this meeting.

On our agenda:
All thats really left to do now is practice our presentation over and over until we're confident with it. The approach now is not to criticise anymore but to encourage. Whether this is too little too late is another question. However we're all proud of what we've done and ready to move on to the next part of the course.
