Energy Saving Results

From the previous pages, it has been shown how these results have been calculated using wind data, ship data, and spin ratio relationships. This page presents the results for the energy saving of a single 30x5m Flettner rotor on the chosen ship across the North Atlantic route for each month on 2018.

 

To relate the power savings to the journey, it was crucial to multiply the power saving values by the time required for each stage of the journey to give the energy savings. The results for the energy savings for each whole journey are shown below, expressed as a percentage of the required energy for the journey.

The journey average energy savings over the year are also presented here.
