Capacity Factors. The capacity factor is the net annual energy produced by a wind farm, divided by the theoretical output if it operated at maximum rated output for an entire year. Sites with capacity factors greater than 25% are generally considered to be economically viable wind farms (in the UK at least). Below is a table of the capacity factors from the potential wind farm locations in India, with the CF of the established UK wind farms also provided for comparison.
The UK sites have higher capacity factors due to the higher wind resource available, as well as the park layout being designed by professionals to optimise the energy captured. N.B. The AEP for the operational wind farms in the UK can not be displayed here for reasons of commercial confidentiality. |
