Problems with Current Resource Modelling Techniques

For proper long term analysis of the wind resource, direct measurements have to be correlated with a near by meteorological station. This is not too much of a problem in developed regions of the world like Europe and North America.

However, it is not always possible to set up a mast in more remote locations and have a nearby weather station for modelling.

This is the novelty of this wind resource estimation project.

By using data that is freely available on the internet, we hope to be able to create a model to predict wind resources in remote locations where there are no local weather stations or where it is not practical to set up a mast.
