Wind
is
being used as the source of energy for over 5000 years in sailing the
ships. It is a clean and inexhaustible source of energy. It is
estimated that over 70 TW of wind power can be commercially viable
which is much greater than the average total power consumption of
the human world that was 15 TW in 2004 [Wikipedia, 2009].
The
winds are produced as the
Earth is unevenly heated by the Sun. The sunlight falls normally on the
equator
so it receives more heat than any other parts of the Earth, whereas
poles
receiving least amount of heat. Also, the sea is cooler than land in
the day
times generally causing the wind to flow from sea towards land. Reverse
is happened
at night. This uneven heating gives rise to convection currents and the
air
flows.
