ESP-r: moisture flow
current capabilities
ESP-r has the following capabilities with respect to
moisture flow modelling:
- moisture transfer modelling through building constructions
with absorption/desorption.
- post-processing of surface
relative humidity and temperature against steady-state
mould growth curves for different mould species held in
a mould growth database.
primary routines
-
moistr.F in esrubld contains the code for the combined heat
and moisture transfer. The theory is documented in Abdul
Nakhi's PhD thesis downloadable from the ESRU website.
primary variables
issues arising
Possible improvements are:
- improving moisture flow models (or integrate with specialist
envelope hygrothermal models)
- dynamic mould growth information
- data on moisture absorption/desorption for materials
- few example models and no tutorials
- limited documentation available to practitioners
- structure of database is different from other databases
associated with ESP-r (could be updated)
- code and data structures are less mature than other portions
of ESP-r.
