Methodology

There have been many studies conducted into post occupancy evaluations (POE) and the team was conscious that a POE would form a large section of the project. It was therefore pertinent to use a POE as a base for creating the unique methodology.

Using Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) building as a case study the team focused on five areas

  • • Study of design and building delivery process
  • • Conduct a POE and compare building energy performance against designed parameters
  • • Prepare a simulation model to be used for optimising energy systems performance
  • • Test model using data from BMS and POE findings
  • • Compare performance of model with building to show energy improvement possibilities
