WELCOME
to the Feasibility of a Zero Carbon Autonomous Holiday Community Website!
Based on a proposed holiday community in the Scottish borders, the project is focused on the prediction and the analysis of the energy demand according to variable occupancy. Moreover, it will cover the possibility of supplying demand with the use of renewable energy sources available on-site with consideration of diverse storage technologies. Additionally, the use of different building fabrics and their impact on space heating demand will be studied while considering the embodied energy associate.
Aim
A method for assessing the feasibility of a Zero Carbon Autonomous Holiday Community
Objectives
- Obtain a suitable demand profile:
- by collection and analysis of monitored data from similar holiday villages
-
by creation of multiple demand profile
- Apply approach to a real prototype (Craik)
- To explore supply and storage options
Deliverables:
- Design of a framework for a zero carbon autonomous village which can be adapted by other eco-villages as well as remote and off-grid island communities
- A comparison of the space heating performance of four different wall constructions with an embodied energy calculation
- Creation of a suitable occupancy profile for our case study
- Analysis of the alternative behavioural models most likely to happen
- Creation of a suitable thermal and electric demand profile based on the occupancy and behavioural models
- To find out the best strategy to supply all this demand by renewable technologies and storage options
