UNCERTAINTY IN WIND ENERGY YIELD
PREDICTIONS (M Sc. Group Project with Sgurr Energy)
VIJAY DWIVEDI
Group Project
Role
Research in
long
term
wind speed prediction using Measure-Correlate-Predict technique and
variation in linear correlation parameters.
Academic
Background
I received
degree in Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical
Engineering with Honours) from Gobind Ballabh Pant University of
Agril. and Technology, India in 1998. After working in
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and General Electric
(GE), I got opportunity to pursue MSc. at University of
Strathclyde, UK and also was awarded the Scottish International
Scholarship 2008-2009 by British Council, UK.
Professional
Background
I did orientation course in Nuclear
Science and Engineering from BARC and pursued carrier power generation
system at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), India. I
joined GE in gas turbine design group
and also received green belt in DMAIC and DFSS of Six Sigma.
Basically I got flavour of Energy System from Nuclear Power Plant
to Gas Turbine. I think MSc. at Strathclyde University is logical
extension to my
career.
Future Interests
Pursue
career in Energy Sector. Interested in engineering optimization, Finite
Element
Method, Design and Analysis of mechanical components and
life assessment of components based on fatigue.
Comments on this project
Group
Project was wonderful engagement with Sgurr Energy and
a lot of fun in completing it. A real face of challenges to
all young professional who are going to join the Industry.
This project allowed me to apply knowledge gained
during Part-A of MSc, Energy Systems and the Environment.
