UNCERTAINTY IN WIND ENERGY YIELD
PREDICTIONS (M Sc. Group Project with Sgurr Energy)
ROBIN ODLUM
Group Project
Role
Research
in wind turbine losses and correction factor correlation.
Academic
Background
I
received a BEng Honours Degree in Electronics and Communications
Engineering from Napier University, Edinburgh in 2003.
Professional
Background
Before
gaining my first degree I worked for many years in the
hospitality industry. On completion of my degree I moved to London,
where I worked as a technical advisor for a specialist engineering
recruitment company. Having completed a year in London, I returned to
Glasgow and began working in the property market. Initially working in
sales and progressively interacting with developers and architects on
the planning side of residential buildings. With the ever increasing
environmental issues impacting building legislature, I felt this course
was the ideal next step in improving my career scope.
Future
Interests
To
gain my Chartered Engineer status in the renewables sector.
Specifically wind and tidal energies.
Comments
on this project
I
thouroughly enjoyed every aspect of the group assignment,
specifically the industrial/academic interaction and how both sectors
approach the same discipline. I also enjoyed working with my
team-members, who came from different parts of the world. This made the
project more challenging yet at the same time more rewarding.
